Shock Synthesis

Create arbitrary waveforms to match your SRS and your table capability; provides the ability to enter a Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) into a table. JAGUAR then permits the generation of an unlimited number of waveforms that will result in the reference SRS being optimized and the resulting time domain waveform compensated to permit replication on a shaker table. JAGUAR Shock Synthesis permits the operator to easily create new waveform tables. Simply press a button and a new table will be created with automatic convergence to the specified percentage of error defined by the operator.

Performance Begins with HARDWARE.
To ensure the highest level of performance in accuracy of measurement, signal generation, computation and analysis requires a hardware platform designed for the mission.

JAGUAR employs state-of-the-art Sigma/Delta analog-to-digital converters with multiple sample rate capability and integral Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters. Coupled with analog 6 pole Butterworth filters, this assures that measurements will have no aliased signals to invalidate the data. This is critical due to the transient nature of the data. All decisions and understanding of structural response may originate from one time record, generated by one pulse. JAGUAR filters differ from design perfection by less than +/-1 degree across the entire frequency range of 0 to 20 kHz. Channel-to-channel phase matching differs by no more than +/-2 degrees across the same frequency range. The result is extraordinary accuracy. The filter design is optimized for transient operations so that the inherent ringing characteristic of all filters is absent in the operating range for all response data for mechanical systems. This means your data is NOT altered by a filter oscillation that alternately adds and subtracts energy from the actual measurement before you see it. This means the data you analyze with JAGUAR Shock Synthesis will always be accurate.

Automation Provides Ease of Use and High Performance.

Waveform generation tables greatly enhance the capability of the laboratory to iterate upon the desired waveform being generated. Each waveform will have its own Peak SRS G value as well as its own Table G value. Auto Synthesis to match the SRS is a valuable tool to ensure that the selection of wavelets used in the waveform has the appropriate delays, amplitudes and frequency content to ensure that the SRS will be properly matched by the waveform being created. In addition to the automatic mode for Synthesis, the operator may also intervene and make manual changes to the composition of the waveform. In this way unique operator knowledge and skill is not locked out of the test equation.

User Selectable:

  • WEIGHTING FOR AVERAGING – assists user to control statistical confidence during control.
  • WAVEFORM TREND REMOVAL – permits the automatic removal of DC.
  • FEEDBACK GAIN – SRS processing permits user involvement assuring control stability in non-linear environments.
  • INITIAL EXCITATION – testing has shown that computation of system ID may be affected by the type of initial excitation used; JAGUAR permits operator discretion in this choice.
  • SAMPLING RATIOS – the degree to which the user chooses to over-sample the data affects accuracy of peak measurement and identification; conversely, it slows the process by acquiring larger block sizes with higher sample rates. JAGUAR ’s interpolation feature allows smaller block sizes while maintaining the effect of higher sample rates.
  • SRS PROCESSING - permits the user to determine where the pulse energy will be located within the time buffer.
